Fishing
I love to fish. Not only will you never have to buy food, it'll make you a bunch of cash too! There are two main fish that players want to buy from you, lobster and shark. This guide will help you catch more of them, and in less time than others take getting there! Shrimp. Everyone starts out small net fishing for shrimp. I used the spot near Draynor Village, just south of town. I also worked on cooking while fishing, so for shrimp I brought an axe and tinderbox along with to build fires next to the shore. At level 15 you'll start to catch anchovies along with your shrimp, and that'll give you a nice boost to your experience rate. Continue fishing shrimp until level 25. Trout. At this point either buy or gather a pile of feathers and a fly fishing rod. While trout only require level 20, you want your fishing a bit higher than the minimum, or it will be slow fishing! If you want exp, you want to fish trout and salmon. Salmon pop up in the same spot as trout, but you won't start to get them until level 30. Continue fly fishing until you're level 45. If you don't want to use a fly fishing rod, continue to fish shrimp until level 40, then head to lobster. Lobster. 40 fishing is required to catch lobster, but I recommend 45 to speed it up a bit. Lobster are your first cash crop, all your hard work is about to pay off. Head to catherby and get yourself a lobster pot. You'll immediately notice lobster are much slower than trout, but just keep reminding yourself you're earning about 200gp off each one! I recommend you go crazy on lobster from level 45 to level 65. Back to Trout. Huh? I thought we were done with trout? Wrong! Trout and salmon offer the fastest experience rate for fishing. You can catch them so fast, that the sheer number you catch makes it worth it. In order to catch shark at a reasonable rate you need 85-90 fishing! I recommend you buy 10k feathers off the jagex forum (people sell them to fletchers normally) for 100k. Yes that's about 3x the shop price, but I don't want to even think about how long you'd have to sit in the shop to buy all those feathers! You'll have a huge stockpile, and your fishing exp will climb very quickly! If you can manage it, complete the Shilo Village quest so you have a trout fishing spot right next to a bank. If not, try to find a runner. Someone who wants the trout/salmon for cooking exp will walk to the bank and back to you for load after load. As you near 80 fishing you'll be able to have a load ready for them pretty much as fast as they can walk to the bank and back. This will save you time, as it takes *forever* to drop 26 fish after it took you so little time to catch them. Shark. Everyone is going to fish shark at level 76 when they're finally able. You can't help yourself, and neither could I. Just do it until you realize how much time you're wasting, and then go fish trout. At level 80 it took me about 15 minutes to get a full load of shark, that's just way too long in my books! Boy, I think this was my shortest guide ever! - Written by Donimoes |
Random Tip: Bored of training? Why not try a Minigame for awhile. |
| Scam Alert! Some items in the game look alike. Always read the second trade screen to make sure that you are getting what you think you want, not a look alike ripoff. |
