Getting around the world

Introduction
Runescape is a large world, with many towns, villages, and cities to explore in the course of your adventuring. This proves useless however, if there is no quick and efficient way to move people from place to place. Thankfully, Runescape has in place a number of systems including but not limited to teleporting, fairy rings, gliders, and spirit trees. Each system in itself proves less than usefull in moving people close to certain destinations, but when combined and used together, these systems can move someone very close to where they wish to go, be it lumbridge, or the mountains of relekka.

Teleportation
Teleportation is the simplest and most common form of transit in Runescape. It is exactly as the name suggests: for a small cost in runes you can move from city to city, provided you have the required mage level and, if needed, quests. The table below will give information on teleporting.

Public Transport
Public Transport involves methods of mass transit available to all players, excluding teleportation spells. Public transport covers gliders, spirit trees, mine carts, magic carpets, eagles, hot air balloons, charter ships, normal ships, and fairy rings. Unfortunately at the present time this guide will only cover the most used, however look for an extention to cover all areas in the future. Generally, any sort of transportation available for public use. Teleport spells become available as your magic level rises, so they are not in this section.

Gliders
Gnome Gliders are unlocked upon completion of the Grand Tree Quest. Gliders are free to use and take you to the following locations:

  • Ta Quir Priw - The Grand Tree
  • Lemantolly Undri - Western Feldip Hills (requires One Small Favour Quest)
  • Gandius - Just South of the Ship Yard on eastern Karamja
  • Kar-Hewo - Al Kharid
  • Lemanto Andra - West of the Digsite
  • Sindarpos - White Wolf Mountain

As you will notice, some destinations require further quests in order to unlock them. You will not be able to travel to these destinations untill you have completed the required quests.

All glider trips origionate from the Grand Tree. As an example, to get from Al Kharid to Feldip Hills using the gliders, you would need to travel from Al Kharid to the Grand Tree, then from the Grand Tree to Feldip Hills.

Mine Carts
Mine Carts are the chosen method of Dwarven Transportation. To use them, you must complete the Giant Dwarf quest. The fare is 150gp one way, however with an enchanted Ring Of Charos. You could cut the fare in half.

Mine Carts will take you from Keldagrem to the Dwarven Mine, or White Wolf Mountain (underground). As with the Gliders, Keldagrem is the hub and you must travel there before you can continue your journey.

Magic Carpets
Magic Carpets are the preferred form of desert transportation. A few key notes about them:

  • You cannot wield a weapon while riding one. Be sure to unequip it before you try.
  • Bring extra money as you may need to make 2 or 3 stops to arrive at your destination.
  • You can still take damage from a lack of water while on the carpet - it will be awarded after your journey is over.
  • You can cut your fares down by a) helping Ali Morrisane and b) wearing your enchanted Ring Of Charos.

Spirit Trees
Spirit Trees will teleport to you Gnomish locations. You can travel to Varrock, the Tree Gnome Village, The Grand Tree, and (with a high enough farming level) 1 spirit tree plot of your choice. There is no fee to use them, and they are unlocked by completing the Tree Gnome Village quest. The Grand Tree spirit tree will be unlocked when you complete the Grand Tree Quest.

With a farming level of 85 or above, you can plant 1 spirit tree seed at any one of the spirit tree patched around the world of Runescape.
Random Tip:
Tele Tablets are a great way for lower level players to get around.
Scam Alert!
Do not rush trades. Taking that extra 10 seconds to look could save you from taking that extra 10 days to make up a loss.
