Pest Control
Introduction Rules of The Game Equipment Reccommended Playing Strategy Worlds Introduction As with all of our mini game and miscellanious guides, the content below is the sole work of the author. We cannot ensure that it is the best method for your levels, nor can we ensure its compatibility regarding future updates to the game. These are tested and true methods that work for US. You may find the same (very successful) results if you choose to adopt it, or you may find the method not up to your standards. Whatever the case, enjoy the reading :) [Return to Top] Rules The Rules of Pest control are fairly simple. Pest control is set up to provide TONS of experiance, should you work as a team and follow the rules.
As you can see, the game is fairly simple. The most popular option is the destroy all 4 portals. Games RARELY ever last all 20 minutes. The knight is either killed, or the portals are destroyed. [Return to Top] Reccommended Equipment The equipment used by the author is thus: Full verac (minus flail), whip, climbing boots, obsidian shield, amulet of glory, ring of charos (enchanted), barrows gloves. This equipment can be fairly expensive, and the level requirements are a bit stiff if your not quite as weathered as some of the more experianced players. This equipment is by no means the standard. The point is the get your Strength bonus as high as it can be. Defense wont matter much, as you simply respawn at the boat if you die, and can run straight back and take another whack. Damage determines if you get your point or not, resistance to damage means nothing. As for the ring of charos, thats simply a placeholder, it has no stat bonuses (that im aware of) and can be easily replaced by items such as a ring of recoil, or a warriors/beserker ring. The setup is fairly lax here, what matters is that you get your point. [Return to Top] Reccommended Strategy This is where the real thinking begins. For the typical pest control player who does NOT belong to a community such as Heart Unit, Affliction, or any other PURELY PC (pest control) group, the idea is to run to a portal, destroy it, then kill the monsters around it. This is NOT the best way to get fast experiance. There are several tips and tricks that you can use when a game starts. Not the type of tricks that involve minutes of consideration, carefull planning, and perfec execution...the type which if you learn well will become part of your natural 3 second thought process at the beginning, and during a game. Firstly, the portals have a different defense level. Yellow has the lowest defense (come on, i know you've wondered how the yellow team is done first all the time...) The order is thus (lowest-highest defense): Yellow, Blue, Pink, Purple. Thats right, you can stop telling the purple team to get their act together...its really NOT that their slow, they just have a harder portal. Our next tip is fairly well known, so no need to go in-depth on it - KILL THE SPINNERS. They heal the portal, and if you let them sit, you can be bloced from attacking them by other monsters. Enough said. Now we get into the real strategy. For the most part, when the boat lands, everyone scatters to the four portals. You get the one or two players who want to die a martyr and protect the knight, but forget them for now. Now look at the layout below. ![]() [Void Knight is the blue star] Now we'll group the game into two teams instead of four. First we have the West Team. The west team naturally is in two groups, the pink and purple teams. Overall, the objective of the West Team should be to take down the Pink and Purple portals. Blue and yellow are tooooo far away for now. If the pink team finishes first, they should head to the purple portal (5 times fast, and all...). After both portals are down, if either the yellow OR blue portal is ABOVE 150(ish) hp, they should head directly to the appropriate portal to provide reinforcements. If the blue portal is in seriously bad shape (220+ hp), you can even go so far as to pass by the yellow one and head directly to the blue one. The idea is EXACTLY the same with the East Team. Simply substitue blue and yellow for pink and purple. [Return to Top] Worlds Many times players wishing to play the game will find themselves alone on the lander, or with a small team who is (for lack of a better term) incapable of teamwork. When PC was released, it lasted about 3 weeks before a home world was named. World 78 is the home world of pest control, just like worlds 1-5 are for merchants. Since the creation of high level pc groups, (Affliction, and Heart Unit for example) this world has become less and less sucessful in their games. Our advice is seek out a PC group. If you dont meet the combat requirements, train untill you do. If you dont WANT to, there are often people on the docks of world 78 who will offer a world to high level players. If all else fails, get a group of friends. DO NOT let a lack of players keep you from enjoying this wonderfull game. That pretty much wraps up the guide, good luck in all your pest control adventures! [Return to Top] |
Random Tip: Bored of training? Why not try a Minigame for awhile. |
