Castle Wars

Introduction:
Castle Wars is the Runescape version of the worldwide classic, Capture the Flag. The game is made up of two teams, appropriately the feuding gods Saradomin and Zamorak. Also appropriate - players who do not wish to choose an allegiance can step into the Guthix portal and will be assigned to the team with the least amount of players.
Both castles are symetrical, meaning exactly the same. Under the battlefield lies a network of tunnels which can be rather conveniant when you are being chased by an angry mob of Zamorakians who want their flag back. The team with the most points at the end of the game is awarded two castle wars tickets, which can be traded to Lanthas in the waiting room for Castle Wars Armour. He also sells Castle Wars manuals for 5gp each.

The Objective:
The objective of Castle Wars is simple. Capture your opponents flag more times than they capture yours. Below you will find many tips and tricks to help you accomplish this, but in the end it will come down to speed, cunning, and good old combat levels. Carry on!

The Equipment:
While you are playing castle wars you may notice in your base some tables containing various items. These items range in use and importance greatly. In your respawn room (where you start the game) you will have your general all purpose band aids. These heal 5 HP each, 30% run, and cure poison. Be sure to grab plenty as these are your main items for the game.
In the room directly below your spawn room you will see a table with the following:
- Barricades - Used to block opponents. They will last untill blown up or hit for their full HP.
- Exploding Potions - Used to collapse and clear tunnels, blow up barricades, and (if dropped) provide a quick return to your teams respawn room.
- Bronze Pick - Used to collapse and clear tunnels.
- Toolbox - Used to repair your catapult if it becomes the victim of sabatoge.
- Rope - Used to scale your enemies castle wall.
- Rocks - standard catapult ammunition.

Tips and Tricks:
One of the most common sights in Castle Wars is a member of one team holding their OWN flag. Many people consider this cheating, many dont. Your stance is simply a matter of personal opinion. The fact of the matter is, Jagex hasn't removed it yet, so it will continue. Your only choice is to kill the flag holder (i know, not always the easiest thing). Once he dies, grab the flag and continue playing. If you happen to be the one holding the flag, know that returning to your base with the flag in your posession will return it to "safe" position leaving it vulnerable for your oponent to capture. Try having a team mate bring you band aids.
Another common practice is people hanging out in tunnels and when someone runs through the rocks that collapse, they collapse them. This hits the person they fell on for 100% of their HP, causing instant death.

Random Tip: For players who cannot teleport to Ardougne, the fastest way to get there is to take a ship from Port Sarim to Karamja, then Brimhaven to Ardougne.

Scam Alert! Watch out for quick-shifting traders. Always check the second trade screen to make sure they have not switched items or coin amounts without you seeing.
