Reccomendations
Your first thought upon reading the description - either here, in game, or on the runescape website - was probably "what if i die?". Fear not, BA is a "safe" minigame. Death will only result in having to restart your current wave (there are 10), there will be no loss or other penalty except for the snears from your teammates as you bring the entire team crashing down.

The first RS United reccomendation - and thats all these are - is a combat level of 80 or above. Anyone with less would most likely not survive the queens attacks, or if they did, would be so busy with the healing process that their job would take to long, and one of the other team members would pass on.

Second, it would always be better to have a spare set of dragonhide armour, apart from your melee armour. Karils would be even better, because the set is used to defend against the queens magic attacks. Prayer is not allowed, nor ancient magiks. You will have to use conventional methods to take down the barrage of enemies that you will find yourself up against.

Our next recomendation is that the first player done with their job in the game should head directly to the horn of glory (more info below). Things can get a little crazy, and in the heat of the moment players can forget to use their horns, which will also bring the round to a rough halt, or greatly hamper the amound of points you and your team members receive. The second and third players done should head to the egg launchers (except on wave 10) and procede to blast the enemies off the ground.

Our final recommendation is very simple: have a team you know you can work with. Teamwork and communication is essential to completing the 10 waves, much less completing them quickly and efficiently.

Rules and Game Structure
Each game will start when a team accumulates 5 players. To do so, one person much take a recruitment scroll from the table in the recruiting room, and then use it himself and with each of his other 4 players, then go down the ladder to start the game. Please note, if you leave the minigame you will stay on the same wave you were on. Speak to the captain above ground to reset your wave count to 1. If a player leaves your team you will need to find another player on the same wave as yourself to join, or you will need to reset yourself to wave 1 with your teammates. For this reason it is recommended that you do not start the minigame unless you have the time to devote to it. A team of players hosted by the author of this guide, composed of 4 level 110+ players and a 107 took an average of 2 1/2 hours to complete all 10 waves without failure. Adjust your time accordingly based on your team and skills.

Classes
There are four classes of players in Barbarian Assault. Each is essntial to his teams sucess, and the other three are all essential to his.

Attacker
The Attacker kills the Penance Fighters and Rangers, and tells the collector which type of eggs to collect.
Collector
The Collector collects eggs for the egg launchers, and is responsible for telling the Attacker which type of attack to use
Defender
The Defender will place food to lure Penance Runners to the traps, and will tell the Healer what type of food to use.
Healer
The Healer will use food to poison the Penance Healers, and will tell the Defender what type of food to use.

There will be an extra man, who can pick any spot to play. Attacker is recommended through wave 8, then healer to finish the game.

The Horns and Interface
Each Player in the game will have a horn which they will use to tell the other players in the game how to properly do their jobs.

The horn will be used to communicate with your partner. Look at the item next to the mouth icon and then right click your horn, and tell that item to your partner. Be sure and adjust your work according to what is next to the Ear Icon.

The Horn of Glory

The Horn of Glory is a peculiar item. Player must weigh its abilities with their duties to determine if it is worth going out of the way to use it. The power of the Horn of Glory is that it can shout any instruction to any player - making it ideal in eliminating the hassle of shouting instructions to those who are still busy with their jobs. Because it is out of the way, we only reccomend its use by a player who is done with their duties already.

To use it, simple click on it, and shout the instructions that are written on the screen. During wave 10, the Hory will become blocked by rubble when the Queen arrives, so when developing a team strategy, do not rely very heavily on the use of the Horn of Glory.

The Penance

The Penance creatures comprise the army you and your teammates will be fighting against. Penance Fighters will (as the name suggests) fight, rangers will range, and healers will heal. Runners will attempt to make it from one end of the cave (north) to the other (south). The Defender must lay food to lure the runners to the traps on both the east and west sides, and must repair the traps when they break using the logs and hammer that spawn in the cave.

The Penance Queen is the sole reason for the existance of Barbarian Assault. She is a vile creature who is immune to normal attacks such as melee, range, mage, poison food, lures, ect. There is one way and one way only to kill her. Enter Omega Eggs.

Omega eggs are the atomic bomb of Runescape. They explode with such force that they can penetrate the defenses of even the Penance Queen. The problem is, you cannot pick Omega Eggs. You must make them.

Start from a yellow egg, picked by the collector when it is layed by the Queen. The collector must pass it to the Healer, who will poison it by putting it in one of the green pools around the lair. Next it will be passed to the attacker, who will put spikes on it, by picking them off the mushrooms. As a tip, the attacker can pick more than one set of spikes at once to be prepared, as well at the collector collecting more than one yellow egg at once. After the attacker comes the defender. He must dunk it in one of the lava pools before passing it back to the collector, who will put it in the egg launcher, to be launched at the queen. 15 eggs should about do it.

When the Queen is dead, you will re-appear at the ladder where you came into the area having completed one of the hardest minigames in Runescape - Barbarian Assault!
